The spider with big dreams...

Today I saw a young spider, still green in colour..so young but born with great dreams...

Where spiders normally would build a web of just the right size, this young one wanted build a huge one...about one meter across. Too large for one so young. As tough as it could be for a spiderling to build one so big, it nonetheless worked hard for it...fighting against the wind and gravity to realize its dream....

All our lives, our mentors, parents and elders have advised us to dream, to aim high....but none ever gave those advise seriously. They forget that we all have different strength and qualities in us which affects our "dreams". Looking at the spider, it dawn upon me that we always need to know the difference between "what we want" and "what we can get".

It is always good to aim high, but we have make sure we don't waste time and effort to chase the impossible.

An excellent idea, if premature, is a lousy one...

What we can get isn't always what we want.....my first hard-learnt lesson......

Thus the spider story...last I checked, it got defeated by forces of nature..

But then again, there's the saying "The grass is greener in the other side"...
but that's just because of the way sunlight reflect on it. I bet your side of grass looks better from that side too....

poor thing....but I'm sure if u look around, you'd find it working on yet another web......
i like that grass thing....just like how dirty your window is...if its smudged then your view of the outside is all smudged and distorted.....
at the end of the day..it's how u look at things...^^

Maybe the young spider can build a small web first and then try to make it bigger and bigger until one meter cross.

Once we have listen out "what we can", that means you give up those listed as " what we cannot".Maybe there are a lots of obstacles lying ahead that makes us all think that it is impossible ,but i still think that winner are those who can keep their faith all along the way.

Maybe when we say "what we cannot", it is an excuse made by us to comfort ourselves for not trying hard.

Quite true what you said there...I agree with you on the last part.
However, I didn't say that we should give up "what we can't get" but rather, set an appropriate goal first...and as we grow and mature, we can then set higher goal!!

That's why we go to University right? In order to obtain new knowledge and skills so that we can build our own "bigger web"...
