Culture shock in Malaysia....

+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+

Yeah... i'm back and kickin' in Melaka. Been one week or so already actually....and my PC a.k.a personal computer a.k.a problematic crap ....were giving problems so.....no entries till today. Anyway, what I did the whole week was chew. Yeah, you heard it right....C-H-E-W. I'll eat like 4, 5 times a day...double porpotion all the time. Really took my own sweet time enjoying the local food.....and since i've been eating all the time and like, move muscles other than mouth and intestines for only about 2 hours in 10 days, i'm starting to grow fat. Yup, tub of lard is now hanging off my once flat abs. But what the hell, I'll worry later....ok, makan time!!

I still remember the last few weeks before i flew to Japan. This one JPA or PSD officer was telling us about how we are getting culture shock when we reach Japan. Well, little did I know that I'll have mine one whole year later. If you didn't get what i mean, I meant that i got my culture shock after I step on Malaysian soil last week.

Being away for a whole year in Japan, I was given the opportunity to take a look at Malaysia from a totally different angle. I now see all kinds of stuffs that I unintentionally ignored.

Know what?? Naruto speaks in an alien language!!! Took me a whole 10 minutes to figure out that it was Bahasa. Haha..just kidding.

I touchdown at K.Kinabalu in the evening around 6.30 (I took a connecting flight instead of a direct one) . We were allowed 1 hour break before being airborne again. First place i headed to was the toilet. The floor was wet and dirty and stank of urine, they were even out of toilet paper. If They are making K.K airport an international airport, why not "try" make it a decent one? For goodness sake, it STANK!! Passengers who have travelled a loooong journey shouldn't be treated with such place. It's suppose to be a place for them to freshen up.
I then headed out to the shops....Back in Japan, I was pampered with "WELCOME" shouts the moment i step into any shop. Here, the shop keeper don't even bother to give a simple smile...especially the ones who were soo engrossed in SMS. Come on....you're suppose to be working!!
Then, I walk past a Customs gate. Well, guess what? It was empty. An empty counter at the bank I can still tolerate but at the customs gates?? Worse, a few meters a way I saw this male customs officer flirting with this female officer. What the .... WHAT were They thinking??!!! So much for a reliable security.

Anyway guys, those stuff you just read were just the "kids" stuff for me.

I meant a more sensitive issue actually. Got all kinds of infos from reading newspapers in Japan. Don't know who might be reading here so I won't say out openly here. Or should I say no point saying things we all already know. No point debating the unchangeble. Guys....y'all should try read papers from outside Malaysia. That's where I get the widest view.

PS: It actually felt weird not speaking Japanese....I tend to answer in japanese sometimes. My friends thought i were just showing off but...they just comes out without warning ya know.

Wouldn't deny about the toilets and all. But overall, Malaysia is still not too bad.

I mean, if you wanna compare with Japan, I wouldn't say Japan is far better than Malaysia, but security wise, yes. Japan is defintely better than Malaysia. You could walk at Shibuya at 2am alone and need not worry about your self-secure. But if you are walking at anywhere in kl, there's no guarantee than you'll be safe.

Public transport in Japan is really convenient, but i would say only Tokyo. Anywhere outside tokyo is not that convenient. But if you have to compare with malaysia, well, come on people, be reasonable, our gorvernment spend more time on praying then developing the country, how could you compare that.

But one thing i would like to add is, Although Japan seems like an international country, but actually, it is not. It is a totally conservative country and there's nothing like you could see in the drama or the mangas a.k.a comics.

Japanese has a very shallow knowledge about outsiders. MKany of them try to be internationalise, but most of them fail. So if you really wanna hangout with them, friends, my advice is, you better findout the words 'Gaijin'. Coz no matter how friendly you are with them, you are still a 'Gaijin'. MEans outsiders.

Have fun with them, but kept a distance. The malaysian way will never get to hangout with them.

Good luck poeple.
