Tale of a Braided haired guy in Tokyo...

Pre-script:
Pics?? Patience...patience....moreover, the previous post was dedicated to the girl I met. And i was sooo engrossed in chitty chitty chatter that I forgot to ask for her pic...sorry.

K, before i go on with what I did during my hols, I like to dedicated this to myself...or more precisely, my hair. Okay...just like the title says...I braided my hair. Have been keeping my hair for almost a year now, it's uhh..around shoulder length. Oh yeah...go ahead, frown your brows and say "WHAT? yucks!"...I bet all of you will say that but whatever. Reality is, I braided my hair.

This, I have been wanting to do for a very very very long time...

And so many of you will ask...why? Hmm...why indeed. Well, I had that hair style, the short one, for almost 2 decades, I eventually got bored of looking at myself in the mirror. I was like, "Aww, NOT you again!!!!"...everytime i got out of the shower. And also, having my mom off my ears (she have exceptional talent in nagging...but don't all our moms...), I finally felt that I had had enough reasons to do something drastic. So, since I left M'sia, I kept and nurtured my hair (I actually soaked them in Rambutan tree fertilizers 2 hours a day, then wash them off with hair tonic, then sprinkle donut crumbs on it...figured that hair need food to grow, right? Well, it worked.), and I haven't visited the barber till now.

Having my hair braided was really fun! Know what? Braided hair comes with an attitude. And also a "Mafia-ish" aura that emits so strongly from your head.

Just so you know, I have roll-call everyday at 10 p.m. I visited a hair salon one day, went right after school....took 4 hour just to get it done!! So, had my hair done just before the roll call. And since I had my hair done that way, I uhh..."purposely" enter the hall late, I was practically the last one to enter! heh heh...you should have seen their faces that day. The hall, which was noisy at first, went momentarily silent...all eyes fixed on me as I "catwalked" to my seat. Then, everyone started talking again...while stealing glances at me of course.... No need to be psychic to know what their topic was. Heh heh...call me show off but I just couldn't resist doing it!!! And imagine again my classmates' reaction when I enter the class the next morning...late again of course....

Okay, that was when I was in school. So what about the rest of the world?? Well, Since there's so much to tell, I'll just tell the best ones.

The REAL fun of having braided hair started when I 1st boarded the train with it. At that time, the train was packed with people but .... with the help of a lil' frown on my face, no one stood around me!! Train might be packed but umm....I had quite a comfortable space around me. And at one time, when I sat on the seat, no one actually dared seat beside me!! There was once when this lady was heading for the seat when I looked up, she saw me with my braid and frown, stopped in her tracks for a few seconds, then turn away and stood facing away from me. Haha...man that was entertaining. Bad-ass as I was, I never meant to rob seats off old ladies ... never knew my braid would have such an effect! Anyway, only after standing up and walking to the end of the train, then the lady and some other fella filled the empty 3-seats....I actually stood all the way!!...better having a circle around me than 2 empty seats right??

Anyway, I reached my destination for the day, Shinjuku. Shinjuku is reputed to have quite a crowd of commuters since it's like the center or something like that. At nornal times, anyone would have a difficult time making their way trough, but as for me....the crowd actually parted and made way for me!! As if I was holding a knife dripping with blood, all it took was one glance and they instantly jump out of the way....man, I felt like a KING!!! (or you could also say a leper which will have the same effect i suppose, but king suits me better right? he he he...)

Next was my visit to Harajuku. Harajuku, is a well-known hip place. It's where the Bold & the Trendy meet. Place where fashion and style rules. Place where you can dress like a clown and still be labeled as trendy (You can think of Harajuku as a place with many clowns, but there are also real trendy ones there..) . Anyway, along the streets, there's foreigners, mostly african americans, working part time there, all holding brochures and trying to pull people to their shops... Well, last time when I was there, I was mostly ignored, approached only by 2 or 3...but this time.. Heck, I was approached by every single one!! They were like ..." Hey bro, take a look at this....Hey bro, wanna take a look at my shop"

Sigh....no regrets at all having my hair braided. The same as my P.I.Cs...they had fun calling me Mafia. All the time threatening me that they would deliberately provoke a yakuza, then have me fight with them....haih, such "nice" friends.

Well, that's not all to it.....

The bad side of it was that...damn, it's itchy!! Even after shampooing...lightly of course, feels itchy. It was like having a whole family of fleas, along with granma and granpas dining on my head! Talk about having a turkey for Christmas, thay have my brains for a feast!! Compared with the itchiness, hell would just be like a tickle on the ribs. Price to pay for having old ladies stand in a train huh??

Anyway, I endured it for about...2 weeks I think. Curious bout how I look after taking it off?? Here's a peek...
